Nuremberg Sightseeing Tours

[Nuremberg in the middleages] [Jewish population through the centuries] [Barock]

Castle of NuremburgNuremberg is the capital of the Franconian region of Northern Bavaria. It was completely rebuilt after Allied bombs reduced it to rubble on the night of 2 january 1945. That includes the castle and the three old churches of the Altstadt, which were painstakingly rebuilt using the original stone.

St.Lorenz ChurchThe scenic Altstadt (old town) is easily covered on foot. It`s a hard climb to the castle area, but this location offers one of the best views of the city. You can visit the palace complex, chapel, wall and tower. The walls spread west to the tunnel gate of Tiergartentor, where you can stroll behind the castle into the garden zone.

Near the Tiergartentor is the Albrecht-Dürer-Haus, were Dürer, Germanys Renaissance draughtsmann, lived from 1509-1528. This house made it through world-war II and features a large number of objects and effects from his life.

Near Hauptmarkt and the Rathaus is the Sebalduskirche, Nurembergs oldest church (13. century), with the shine of St. Sebaldus.

On Lorenzer place is the St.Lorenz church, noted for the overwhelming rosette above the westportal and the 15th century tabernacle.
